The recommended path for children to prepare for travel hockey:

Mennen Sports Arena offers LTS sessions throughout the year: Learn-To-Skate | Morris County Parks (morrisparks.net). Contact Mennen's Skating School Administrator at lblue@morrisparks.net for additional information, questions or concerns.
Step 2. Learn-To-Play (LTP) - Open to boys and girls, age 5-10 who have completed Learn-To-Skate programs and are ready to learn the basic skills of ice hockey. Sessions are normally 6-8 weeks. LTP programs are offered by local rinks and the Devils - Learn to Play Hockey - NHL and NHL Rangers: Rangers - Learn to Play Hockey - NHL. They often provide full equipment as part of the fee.
Step 3. Colonials American Development Model (ADM) - Open to boys and girls, ages 5-8, who have completed a Learn-To-Play hockey program. The ADM program prepares players for travel hockey with a full season program (approximately 20 weeks). Players enjoy station-based drills and small area games at practices schedules twice a week.
Step 4. NJC Travel Hockey - The Colonials offer 8U teams ranging from Advanced to Beginner skill levels. Players moving up to 10U can try out for AAA, AA and A teams.
